When Christine Ostandorf walked out of her home last Tuesday morning and saw her science from LGBTQ+ PRIDE, she believed that the perpetrator was a strong storm of wind. Then she saw the column of her flag broken in four equal pieces.

“I never expected something like this in Saint-Paul,” said a resident of McClyster-Govhelland.

I submitted a police report and placed a new science column and pride. Then, at least four of its neighbors began to put flags and signs on their front arenas.

“The return of 400 percent on the act of violence is a good statement until our flag tearing it will not make us disappear,” said Ostandorf, laughing. “I want others to know that the world got them … We are in this deal together.”

The Saint -Paul Police Department has received 30 reports on sabotage of flags (most of them are the flags of pride) since June 23. Several incidents occurred in Maclester-Gooverland and Highland Park. Some homeowners have clouds of sabotage, but the police administration has not yet reached.

With the spread of sabotage news about neighboring groups on Facebook, locals Michel and Anna, who asked MPR news, decided to use their first names only for safety reasons, to escalate.

Michelle, a Hayland Park resident, offered more than 150 marks and marks last week, and raised more than $ 800 of donations to the Trefor project, a non -profit organization to prevent suicide for LGBTQ+.

She said: “When I started giving flags … I realized the number of people who were good and care, and I just exploded on the number of people who said nice things (and came to support.”

In Maclester-Gooverland, Anna Gofundme has started to raise money to print PRIDE flags and signs that they will give up for free. Local business see Carrie Color will design the signs of annihilation.

Anna was inspired by similar funds in West Saint -Paul in 2023.

She said: “I think many people feel safe and acceptable for Trump’s policies and supporters, and people are looking for a way to respond.” “One of my hopes is that this gives people an entrance to the feeling that they can age change, even if it is really this little way.”

Any remaining donations are heading towards recovery, which is a non -profit organization in Saint -Paul that increases access to the mental health resources of Queer and Transgeter youth. Collect donations more than $ 7,700.

Anna said that she was satisfied to be able to provide good news while society was recovering from a painful thing.

She said: “There is a lot of support for people with Queer and Transer more than hatred and persecution. They are really good to know,” she said.

Michelle and Anna are considering turning their projects into a longer initiative working together to discuss the following steps.

“We need to send a message that we are not alive, hateful. We hope that there will be a better future for LGBTQ people,” said Michelle.
