A federation representing thousands of city workers in Philadelphia and the city reached an agreement to end more than two weeks’ hunger strike Picking garbage on the residential sidewalk Officials were affected on Wednesday.

Nearly 10,000 blue collar employees came out of the 33rd provincial council from the US State Federation, provinces and municipality from the job on July 1, where they sought better salaries and benefits after negotiations with the city failed.

The initial agreement of workers is given a 3 % increase in each of the next three years, away from the pursuit of the union to obtain an increase in annual wages by 5 %.

Half of the members will get an additional increase by 2 % by an additional level on the payment scale.

The residential garbage group will resume on Monday, according to Baker, who requested “grace” as swimming pools, libraries, recreational centers and other services.

Provincial Council 33 is the four largest major unions representing city workers. Its membership includes 911 transmitters, garbage collectors, workers of the Ministry of Water and many others. The police and firefighters were not part of the strike.

Parker said that during her four -year term, DC33 workers had received a total of 14 %, including a 5 % increase in one year that all four unions gave him after taking office last year.

Many residents seem to support the reinforcement of the salaries of DC33 workers, even with the accumulation of garbage in the neighborhoods.

The Federation says they earn an average of $ 46,000 a year.

Members of the Federation still have to ratify the agreement.

Rich Holls, the actor who just moved to the city, called for the settlement as “disappointing.”

“The declared increases do nothing for workers and their families, because the increases will be less than the inflation rate.”

Some of the 60 decline centers that the city set for the residential garbage was overflowing.

Most libraries and some swimming pools were closed throughout the city, and entertainment centers have been operated in low hours.

Last week, the judges had stood for the city to satisfy some of the employees interested in working in the 911 center in the city and the Ministry of Water and the Airport.

“We have done our best with the circumstances we spent in front of us,” Federation President Greg Bolari told reporters on brief notes on Wednesday morning.
