I Didn’t Pay for My MIL’s 68th Birthday — She Can’t Keep Using Me / Bright Side

Hello bright side,
My mother -in -law was dependent on us since the death of my husband’s father, especially when it came to her heavy birthday dinner. But when the bill arrived, everything changed. My husband’s words are cut in the air:
“My mother, we do not pay for this. We know what you were benefiting for us.”
It turned out that my mother -in -law had a retirement box, which I kept hidden from us. We only discovered after hearing my sister’s child talking about it. For years, she asked us to make money to help cover her expenses, but when it was time to cover dinner, she was far from opening her savings.
When the check came, my husband faced her, “My mother, we no longer cover anymore. We have already revealed that you were taking advantage of us.” My sister was shocked, and my mother answered nervously, “She is my daughter; I must help her.”
