Francisco Rodriguez JR fails drug test vs. Drink

Matchroom revealed yesterday that Francisco Rodriguez Jr. (40-6-1, 27 KOS) proved positive for a banned substance of VADA trial following his unanimous 12-round victory over Galali’s temporary featherweight champion (9-1, 7 kos) on June 21st in Birland, Birmingham. Rodriguez Jr., 33, is currently under investigation, and his s sample will now be tested.

Rodriguez jr doping test positive

Veteran Rodriguez JR had beaten the stuffing out of Yafai, getting out of a wide edge on the way to win by the 119-108, 119-108, and 118-109 scores. It is arguable that the fighting should have been suspended by the sixth round, as it was clear that Yafai had no chance of winning and was thoroughly beaten by Rodriguez.

Punch Statistics: Dominant Rodriguez Jr.

  • Francisco Rodriguez Jr.: 575 landed 1089 punch for 53%. Of that total, 528 was a power punch, meaning almost everything he threw with power.
  • Galal yafai: 230 of 795 for 34%.

It is unclear whether the consequences of the fighting will be controlled as a nothing match, and Yafai gave back his WBC temporary title. However, with the way he lost to Rodriguez Jr., one could say that the same would happen no matter how many times they are fighting. For fans who have never watched Rodriguez, he has always been known for having high punch output. This was not out of the norm for him to get high output.

Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has not said whether he will look to line up. Given how one -sided it was, it is unlikely. Rodriguez jr could ruin Yafai in a second fight if he throws over 1000 punch again. Yafai like his brother, Kal Yafai, is in the way he fought.

Yafai fans are furious about Rodriguez Jr. proves positive, and some say, ‘I told you.’ They felt, with the high number of shots that Rodriguez threw, which had to be on peds. That’s how he has always battled his entire pro career, and had never experienced positive for any forbidden substances before.
