The Sparring Abdullah Mason Vs Floyd Scofield video was dropped today on YouTube, showing that ‘Kid Austin’ is dominated by the top Mason promoted by row. Most of the video shows the light competitor de -baw, Mason, stalking Schofield around the ring, hitting it with big shots to the head and body.
Schofield failed a lot, still, and was off balance after throwing shots. He looked uncomfortable and in distress at times with the weight of the mason 5’9 ″ taller. Towards the end of the Spar, Schofield landed some big shots on the right to the top and body of Abdullah.
The dropped sparring clip disproves what Floyd Schofield Sr. said For his son having to go easily on Mason. What we see from the edited video is that Mason dominated the whole 3.27 minute clip. What we don’t know is who edited the clip and what was moved.
Whosoever edited the agenda to make Abdullah may well look good. Therefore, the parts where it looked good intact were left, while the areas where Schofield dominated were edited. With edited video, you don’t know.
Sparring Clip Age & Context
We don’t know how far back the sparring happened. Schofield looked much more in his last battle against Tevin Farmer on June 28th than it is in the video. In that fighting appeared 15 to 20 lbs heavier than he did in the sparring.
This suggests that this clip is at least 1-2 years. That may not sound like much to an older fighter, but it makes a significant difference to someone in their early 20s that are still developing.
Besides age and editing selecting the video, the size of the glove and headgear draws no meaning to measure that would win a fight between them. Those look like 16-ounce gloves that both fighter wear, and they take off the effect of the shots.
