Fans are disappointed with the choice of David Benavidez’s opponent, Anthony Yarde, for his protection from his WBC lightweight heavyweight title in November in Saudi Arabia.
The people hoped that ‘The Mexican Monster’ Benavidez (30-0, 24 kos) would fight against the big puncher, WBO’s acting champion Callum Smith.
Yarde’s choice (27-3, 24 ko) is a great disappointment for fans, which considers it a case of Benavidez choosing a safer, less dangerous opponent that does not bring the same danger as Callum.
Morrell Fight effect on Benavidez
The fans who saw Benavidez’s last fight against David Morrell Note that he took a lot of penalty last February. Although Benavidez won the fighting through a unanimous 12 -round decision, the younger, stronger Morrell landed many big shots on it.
At the end of the fighting, Benavidez’s face showed that he had been in a difficult game. His face looked like Morrell had stepped on him with a pair of kodialk work shoes all night. You could say that Morrell, in a game, would win with a few minor adjustments while throwing fast combinations and starting faster with his weight. Cuban Morrell stayed until the second to open with his crime, and by then, he was too far left to make up for lost land.
Choosing Yarde as his opponent is a clear indication that Benavidez does not want to be given through another physical torture session like the one who suffered against Morrell. Yarde is a good British fighter, but when he has tried to fight world-class fighters in 175, he has withered in hitting losses out to Artur Beterbiev and Sergey Kovalev.
Yarde champions donated by rebuilding four fights since his loss to Beterbiev in 2023. The only identifiable name among the gang of four was the able Lyndon Arthur, but it is long in the tooth and had already been cast out by Yarde in 2021. It was an unnecessary trilogy they had last April.
