Delete IBF: Iglesias vs. Shishkin, 168, September 4, Montreal
Osleys Iglesias will fight Vladimir Shishkin in a Super IBF mid -weight title eliminator to determine the mandatory challenger for the Canelo Champion Alvarez on September 4th at the Montreal Casino in Montreal in Montreal, Canada.
It is a big step for Cuba Iglesias (13-0, 12 Kos), which has been fighting under the radar against primarily and unknown veterans in Canada and Germany since it turned professional in 2019. Iglesias, 27, 27, are ready to put itself in a position to fight for the IBF title.
The power of hit iglesias
“The hurricane is unobstructed. On September 4, I will be victorious, defend my IBO title, and become an compulsory IBF. Step by step, a belt by a belt, I will be at the top very soon,” Osleys Iglesias promises.
Known for his one-punch power, Iglesias has cast his last five opponents out within five rounds. One of them was the old well -known mid -weight title, Marcelo Coceres, which Osley destroyed in one round. Coceres is the guy who dropped Edgar Berlanga in the ninth round of their fight in 2021.
Shishkin (16-1, 10 ko) is a #2 IBF site, and comes off a unanimous 12-round decision loss to William Scull in October last year in Germany. He overcame Scull in each round, and seemed to have done more than enough to win a shut out decision. Amazingly, the judges gave him to Scull.
The IBF chose to keep Shishkin listed despite that loss. Therefore, he now has the opportunity to secure a profitable world title shot against Canelo if he wins against Osley on September 4th.
IBF title implications
Knowing how IBF Canelo champion has acted in the past, he will avoid fighting Iglesias if he becomes compulsory. As such, Alvarez will wind up being drawn from his IBF title just as when he chose not to defend against William Scull.
Iglesias will then be promoted to the IBF champion status outside the ring. Hopefully, that scenario doesn’t play out because fans would want to see Canelo test his true fist in 168, as he had a pretty easy trip since moving up to the Department in 2020.
